The Buddy Desk Mobile Office Solution

Atlanta, GA, May 20, 2008 -- Buddy Desk, Inc., the upstart company offering practical solutions for the mobile office, launched a brand new e-commerce website this month to market their new product, BuddyDesk. According to an article written by Margaret Galer Flyte in 2000, The Vehicle as an IT Office Environment: Ergonomics Design Requirements for Mobile Computing, over 6 million people in the U.S. do some work from their cars. Working from a vehicle is a great convenience for most people who lead busy lives, but was not the ideal place for setting up office until now.
Bud Crouch of Douglas County, GA, created his ergonomically shaped mobile desk for people who use their vehicles as a mobile office. The idea was generated in July 2005 while Crouch was on a ride-along with Deputy Paulk with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Paulk’s vehicle was not equipped with a mounted computer, so he resorted to wedging his ticket booklet between the steering column and himself to create a stable surface to place his laptop while writing reports.
According to Crouch “Watching Deputy Paulk do that for the first time I instantly saw a need and told him I could create something for him to make it easier to use his computer”.
After months of creating different prototypes, Crouch finally developed the perfect solution. The BuddyDesk is a sleek, lightweight portable desk that mounts to a vehicle’s steering wheel in seconds, providing a flat surface to place a laptop, do paperwork, or simply eat lunch. Designed to slide through the lower part of a vehicle’s steering wheel and rest upon the back edge of the steering column, the BuddyDesk’s patent-pending technology allows the user to remain in an upright, comfortable position, eliminating the need to twist to reach a computer or rest a hot computer on their lap. BuddyDesk can be tucked away between the vehicle seats or in most computer bags making a hi-tech, fast moving, mobile world one of convenience and comfort.
