Installation
Installing The Universal Jotto Desk U2300 is easy and will take approx 30-45 minutes to perform.
To install, first decide where you want to position the vertical assembly of the laptop mount. We recommend picking a spot that is to the far left edge of the drivers seat and to the right of center so to not interfere with your access to radio/heat/ac/and power outlets on your dash. This will mean you will screw the 3" x 6" universal base to the floor on the slope of the transmission hump (if your vehicle has one). ou may also install the base on a flat surface or vertical surface, such as against the side wall of a floor console (see pictures under "more images").
Use a power drill to set the supplied self-tapping screws. Do not predrill holes! The self tapping screws will bore a hole that is a perfect size for the screw threads. Use the drill to start the installation of each screw and then switch to a screwdriver to snug the screw down, to avoid over torquing and stripping the hole threads.
The brace legs also need to be installed with a similar procedure. It is best to install the brace legs so that one of the braces is directly forward of the main base. This brace will provide support to the laptop mount for the stop and go forces that typical driving exerts. The second brace should cross in front of the passenger seat and installed near the passenger door. This will ensure that passenger leg space is not compromized and will provide side to side stability for the laptop mount whih is needed while cornering, or in rough road conditions where the vehcile will be rocking over the terrain.
It is important to note that the self-tapping screws are very small (1 1/4" long #10 in size). Because of this, you are making minor penetrations into the floor of the vehicle and if installed through carpeting, if you decide to uninstall the bases later, a brush of the carpet pile will all but hide the puncture holes. You can also use silicone under the vehicle to plug the remaining holes to ensure water will not penetrate.
Once you have the Jotto Desk bases installed, you will then be able to assemble the desk on top of the bases as shown in the included instruction pamphlet.
